Making it Relevant
One of the biggest challenges for anyone who is changing career paths, is drawing on their experiences to make them as relevant as possible.
Employers, similar to professional sports clubs, have a profile of the type of individual they want to bring into their team or business. What we do here is help athletes' understand how they can make their experiences, which at first may seem foreign to a commercial business, become relevant and recognised to the profile of an organisation.
This doesn't come overnight. It takes time for an individual to see things differently. But what we do is focus on the power of professional sport. People who haven't been involved in elite sport may not recognise the environment and pressures, and vice-versa, athletes may not fully understand the professional world. Through The-Transition-Phase, by bringing these sets of individuals together to collaborate, allows us to share knowledge and educate.
We use individual training sessions, and group workshops to present how athletes can really make their experiences understood, and teach athletes the language of business. But we don't want to just help portray 'relevance', we want to emphasise the diversity, unique skill set, and competitive way of thinking that professional athletes can bring. These are the things we truly believe commercial businesses can create value from.
