National 400m Hurdler Jasmine Mitchell shares her secret to successfully balancing life on and off the track, her career highlights so far, favourite things about her role, and top tips for other athletes considering a dual-career.

What has been one of your favourite moments on the track so far?

I think for me, setting a new PB and finishing 4th in the National Championships over the 400m hurdles has to be up there. I’ve also enjoyed every opportunity I’ve had to run in the violet vest for Loughborough where I did my Undergrad and then later Masters in Sport Management, Politics and International Development.

How are you finding balancing training full-time with your career?

Dual-careering is tough. You have to be committed and make sacrifices. However, I am finding that I’m having enough time to work and train in either my lunch break in the office gym or in the evening at the track. Annapurna have been great as they have allowed me to work from home on hard training days which definitely helps when I need to get enough sleep, eat right and have enough time to get to the track.

What one thing are you loving about your new role so far?

I am enjoying every aspect of my role so far! It’s allowed me to learn so much in such a short space of time. I have already promoted and hosted my first LinkedIn live event!

What piece of advice do you have for other athletes looking to dual-career?

One piece of advice I would give is that it will take some time to get used to, but once things click you will find the best routine that works for you. For me, I try and use my time efficiently, and use all support available to me. Don’t be afraid to ask your manager if there is something that you need!

Any final words for our athlete community?

TTP has helped my career by showing me that you can do both, and that you can utilise so many qualities of being an athlete in your work life!
